The AAS Historical Periodicals Collection consists of 5 series with over 7500 titles from the seventeenth through the late nineteenth century: 

* Series 1 covers 1691-1820, representing over two centuries of print culture from early colonial imports to titles published on American soil during the Revolution and early republic, The subject matter covered in this series is broad in scope and covers all aspects of American society during this time period. 

* Series 2 includes over 1000 titles dating from 1821 through 1837. The subject matter covered in Series 2 represents the Jacksonian Democracy era in history and is broad in scope and includes agriculture, entertainment, history, literary criticism, and politics 

* Series 3 includes titles from 1838 through 1852. The themes presented in Series 3 reveal a rapidly growing young nation, where industrialization, the railroads, regional political differences, and life on the western frontier were daily realities. Subjects covered in the collection reach into every facet of American life, including science, literature, medicine, agriculture, women’s fashion, family life, and religion. 

* Series 4 presents over 1,100 titles dating from 1853 through 1865. While the Civil War is a focal point of the collection, we also find a diverse record of the continuance of daily life for many Americans—both leading up to and during the war. News from the battlefront can be found, in addition to the usual breadth of subject matter found in previous collections that include science, literature, medicine, agriculture, women’s fashion, family life, and religion. 

* Series 5 has over 2,500 titles dating from 1866 through 1877. The themes presented in Series 5 reflect a nation that persevered through a most difficult set of circumstances: a bloody civil war that claimed hundreds of thousands of lives; the incorporation of the recently-freed African Americans into American life; a population that rapidly expanded into the Western territories. Broad subject areas covered in the collection reach into every facet of American life, including science, literature, medicine, agriculture, women’s fashion, family life, and religion.

Art Abstracts™ is a comprehensive resource for art information featuring high-quality indexing and abstracting of over 600 periodicals dating back to 1984, including 280 peer-reviewed journals, as well as indexing and abstracting of over 13,000 art dissertations, and indexing of almost 200,000 art reproductions, which provide examples of styles and art movements, including works by emerging artists. The database covers fine, decorative and commercial art, folk art, photography, film, and architecture, and also includes a database-specific thesaurus.

ARTstor is a database of of art images. Its primary purpose is the creation and provision of digital images and related materials for scholarly and educational use. The Charter Collection includes "artistic traditions across many times and cultures and embraces architecture, painting, sculpture, photography, decorative arts, and design as well as many other forms of visual culture.  ARTstor provides over one million images just in the general image collection. Additional collections includes the Art History Survey Collection, the Carnegie Arts of the United States Collection, the Huntington Archive of Asian Art, the Illustrated Bartsch, the Mellon International Dunhuang Archive, and the MoMA Architecture and Design Collection. Biography and Genealogy Master Index (BGMI) has citations to over 13.6 million biographical sketches. It indexes current reference sources, as well as the many retrospective works that cover individuals, both living and deceased, from every field of activity and from all areas of the world. Many of the sources are available in the MSU Libraries reference or general collection. Updated twice a year, with about 300,000 new citations on each update.  Contains citations to biographical dictionaries & other sources from 1975-present. Not full text.

Digital Sanborn Maps of Montana provides digital access Sanborn fire insurance maps. Note, GFCMSU's access only includes Montana maps. 

Sanborn fire insurance maps are frequently consulted maps and are valuable historical tools for urban specialists, social historians, architects, geographers, genealogists, local historians, planners, environmentalists and anyone who wants to learn about the history, growth, and development of American cities, towns, and neighborhoods. They are large-scale plans containing data that can be used to estimate the potential risk for urban structures. This includes information such as the outline of each building, the size, shape and construction materials, heights, and function of structures, location of windows and doors. The maps also give street names, street and sidewalk widths, property boundaries, building use, and house and block numbers. Seven or eight different editions represent some areas. 

Textual information on construction details (for example, steel beams or reinforced walls) is often given on the plans while shading indicates different building materials. Extensive information on building use is given, ranging from symbols for generic terms such as stable, garage, and warehouse to names of owners of factories and details on what was manufactured in them. In the case of large factories or commercial buildings, even individual rooms and the uses to which they were put are recorded on the maps. The ERIC Database is a bibliographic and abstracts database covering the field of education from 1966-present. It includes citations and abstracts to educational journal articles (from the Current Index to Journals in Education [CIJE]) and educational documents (from the Research in Education [RIE]. Many of the educational documents are available online with older ones available in the basement microform room by their ED number. ERIC is also available directly on the Web at eric.ed.gov version but without any information about MSU Bozeman journal holdings. Updated monthly.
