Lending Periods

  • Circulating books in the general collection may be checked out for a period of 3 week.
  • AV materials may be check out for a period of 3 days. 
  • The most recent issues of periodicals do not circulate. Back issues of journals circulate for 3 days. 
  • Reserve items have hourly check out restrictions, and varies by item.
  • Items borrowed through interlibrary loan are subject to the circulation times of the lending library and may differe from those of Weaver Library. 

Overdue Fines

  • 3-week loan items and periodicals accure an overdue fine of $0.50 per day/per item, up to a maximum of $25.00 per item. 
  • Hourly reserve materials accrue at $2.00 per item/per hour, up to a daily maximum of $14.00 per item. 
  • Daily reserve items accrue at $2.00 per item/per day, up to a maximum of $25.00 per item. 
  • AV materials accrue at $2.00 per item/per day, up to a maximum of $25.00 per item. 
  • Interlibrary loan materials accrue at $1.00/day. There is no maximum fine for overdue interlibrary loan items. If an interlibrary loan item is lost, the replacement cost determined by the lending library will be charged to the student.

Lending Periods

  • Most anatomical models are available for 1-Day (24-hour check) out. A handful of models are designated hourly in-library use only, and available for 2-hour check out (can be renewed). 

Overdue Fines

  • 1-Day loan items accrue at $2.00 per item/per day, up to a maximum of $25.00 per item. 
  • 2-hour loan items accrue at $2.00 per item/per hour, up to a daily maximum of $14.00 per item.

Lending Periods

  • Laptop computers, Chromebooks, and wireless hotspots may be checked out for 8-weeks, in line with the 8-week block schedule. 

Overdue Fines

  • Overdue laptops, Chromebooks, and wireless hotspots accrue at $2.00 per item/per day, up to a maximum fine of $25.00.

Late materials accruing fines up to $25.00 will be considered lost. Library materials more than 15 days overdue are also considered lost.

  • If an item is considered lost, the borrower will be billed the replacement cost of the item plus a $20.00 processing fee. 
    • If the same book or video is no longer available for purchase, the borrower will be billed the average cost for a similar item in the same general subject area.
    • If a periodical issue is no longer in print, the borrower will be billed a flat $25.00 fee. 
  • Unpaid fines will be transferred to the Business Office for collection. The Business office will add the amount due to your student account and may withold academic transcripts and other university services from you until the amount is paid in full. 

Weaver Library reserves the right to suspend borrowing privleges under the following circumstances:

  • a borrower's library fines accrue to $25.00, 
  • bills are transferred to the Business Office, 
  • recalled items and interlibrary loan materials are not returned on time or are returned damaged, 
  • and/or laptops, Chromebooks, hotspots, or anatomical models are not returned or are returned damaged. 

 

Faculty & Staff

Lending Periods

  • Circulating books in the general collection may be checked out for an academic semester.
  • AV materials may be check out for a period of 3 weeks. 
  • The most recent issues of periodicals do not circulate. Back issues of journals circulate for 3 days. 
  • Faculty and staff may also check out usually non-circulating items such as reference books and current periodicals when needed for instruction or college business. 
  • All items may be renewed once.
  • All items are subject to recall after 3 weeks if requested by another patron. 

Items 15 days overdue, or 1 renewal and 15 days overdue after the new due date will be considered lost. Recalled items not returned within 15 days of request will be considered lost. 

  • If an item is considered lost, the borrower will be billed the replacement cost of the item plus a $20.00 processing fee. 
  • If the same book or video is no longer available for purchase, the borrower will be billed the average cost for a similar item in the same general subject area.
  • If a periodical issue is no longer in print, the borrower will be billed a flat $25.00 fee. 

Unpaid fines will be transferred to the Business Office for collection. 

Weaver Library reserves the right to suspend borrowing privileges under the following circumstances:

  • A borrower's library fines accrue to $25.00,
  • Bills are transferred to the Business Office,
  • Recalled items and interlibrary loan materials are not returned on time or are returned damaged.

Community Borrowers

See procedure 902.5.1 Community Patrons for more information. 

A community borrower's card is required to check out library materials.

To apply for a community borrower card, patrons must present a photo ID and proof of residency in Montana (such as a utility bill), plus a "responsible adult" signature for borrowers under the age of 18. 

Community borrower cards are issued for one calendar year, and may be renewed (bring current photo ID and proof of residency).

Lost cards should be reported promptly.

A borrower is responsible for all items checked out on their card. 

Community borrowers are allowed to check out up to 5 items at a time. Items under heavy demand by Great Falls College MSU students or staff may be withheld or recalled at the discretion of library staff. Borrowed items may be renewed once unless someone else has requested the item. Renewals may be done in person or over the phone. 

Electronic resources are accessible to community patrons in the library on designated library computers. Community patrons are expected to use the library in accordance with policy 902.5, conduct policy 901.1, and procedure 902.5.1.

  • Interlirbary loan and off-campus online resource access are not available to community borrowers. 
  • 3-week loan items and periodicals accrue a fine of $0.50 per item/per day.
  • AV materials accrue a fine of $2.00 per item/per day.

Late materials accruing fines up to $25.00 will be considered lost. Library materials more than 15 days overdue are also considered lost.

  • If an item is considered lost, the borrower will be billed the replacement cost of the item plus a $20.00 processing fee. 
  • If the same book or video is no longer available for purchase, the borrower will be billed the average cost for a similar item in the same general subject area.
  • If a periodical issue is no longer in print, the borrower will be billed a flat $25.00 fee. 

Any unpaid balance after 30 days will be sent to a collection agency or the MT DOR Offset program. 

Weaver Library reserves the right to suspend borrowing privileges under the following circumstances:

  • A borrower's library fines accrue to $25.00, 
  • fines are unpaid and bills are sent to collection, 
  • recalled items are not returned on time,
  • items are damaged or lost,
  • and/or community borrowers do not follow policies and procedures.
